Celebrating the Seasoned Woman® Story Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in submitting a story for Celebrating the Seasoned Woman® book series. Celebrating the Seasoned Woman® is the first of a series of books on the seasoned woman®. We want to know who the seasoned woman®. In your life is. Seasoned means many things to many people. You be the judge and submit your story based on your own thoughts, feelings and experiences. The Seasoned Woman® series will be inspirational, humorous, and will leave readers with a message for the soul.
Because the title includes the word “woman” this does not infer that stories should be solely written by women. We welcome stories from men, women and children.
What makes a Good Story?
The stories need to be original true stories. Either your own or someone else’s’ and the author must be credited. Celebrating the Seasoned Woman® stories will offer hope and pull on the heartstrings of their readers. The stories are personal and passionate. They should be very descriptive so the reader can picture themselves in the story. The stories should be sprinkled with lessons learned that can be passed on to others. A good story will evoke a laugh from the belly or the need to get a tissue for tears.
Celebrating the Seasoned Woman® storytellers should tell a story as if the reader was sitting directly in front of them. Stories need a strong action oriented beginning to grab attention, a middle that will keep them hanging and wanting to read more and an end that blows the readers “out of the water” or calls them to action.
Politics and controversial issues do not make for good stories. Journal entries or self boasting does not make for good stories. A story that is so personal that readers cannot relate does not make for a good story.
Please refer to the “write 101” website http://www.write101.com/shortstory.htm for great tips on writing short stories. Please do remember that if selected, we do have editors that will tweak your story as needed. The integrity of the story will not change however grammatically the story may be re-worded for consistency and grammar accuracy.
